Web3 Challenges

As the Web3 era accelerates, metaverse will become the main form and entry point. On the one hand, with the development of a new generation of key technologies, such as non-homogeneous tokens and privacy enhancement technologies, Web3 era with a user-centered system, which emphasizes that users have autonomy in identity, data, algorithm, revenue, collaboration and other aspects and breaks the natural monopoly of Internet platform on data and interaction under the centralized mode, is coming at an accelerated pace. This will help release the value of data elements and promote a new development model of digital economy. On the other hand, metaverse, as the carrier of the integration of the digital world and the real world, has both the digital copy of the real world and the creation of the virtual world. It has been the specific application form of Web3. With the aid of immersive AR/VR terminals and tactile gloves, as well as related technologies such as motion capture, spatial perception and digital twinning, Web3will provide users with unprecedented interactivity, high authenticity and deep immersion and participation. With the key entry point of metaverse, Web3 will “fly into common home”.

AI computing is an indispensable foundation for building metaverse in the Web3 era. First, metaverse will meet unprecedented demands for large-scale intelligent computing and computing resources in human history. For example, in order to achieve the ideal immersive experience effect, VR/AR needs to achieve higher retinal resolution, wider viewing Angle, and more accurate position sensing (such as 3D audio dynamic tracking, gesture position dynamic tracking, eye tracking, etc.), which can not be met by traditional data centers and cloud service providers. For example, Roblox, a metaverse game originally built on AWS, had to build its own data centers because of a lack of network capacity. Second, problems such as delay and low coverage caused by insufficient computing will cause trouble to real-time and immersive metaverse experience. Different from frame loss in the transmission links, frame abandonment caused by insufficient computing and other reasons will make metaverse users have the problems of picture stutter, jumping and dragging, which will greatly damage the immersive experience. Third, Web3 is a truly "big" data era with massive data processing demands, which need to be supported by powerful computing. Building Web3 and metaverse requires a large number of computing resources, which can not be met by traditional data centers and cloud service providers. Therefore, we need to further improve our computing infrastructure to meet demands of Web3.
