Computing era: a new industrial revolution

Computing is the ability to process data. With the development of digital technology and digital economy, the total amount of global data shows explosive growth, which promotes the continuous upgrading of computing demand and requirements. The society has moved towards the direction of intelligence and digitalization, and the computing resources are in short supply. Therefore, the importance of computing has been raised to an unprecedented height.

Computing plays an important role in promoting economic development. In 2025, more than 40% of the global economy will be driven by the digital economy, and nearly half of the economic growth will be related to data. If data is the core factor of production in the era of digital economy, then with data at its base, computing is core productivity, which brings a new engine for the growth of digital economy. On the other hand, computing has built a positive cycle of scientific and technological progress. Computing provides research infrastructure for disciplines such as medicine, materials, biology and energy, and the development of emerging technologies will further promote the upgrading of computing.

In the future, computing, like heat and electricity, can become the basic energy for the digital intelligent transformation of the society. From the four scenarios of cloud computing, edge computing, big data and AI to 6G, "skyscraper" computing and quantum computing, from the present gratifying development to the grand blueprint of the future, from the theoretical framework to practical cases, from social change to enterprise strategy, the era of computing is coming, the market curtain has been opened, and a new technological revolution that can't be missed has started.
